Brighton Frock Me! Vintage Fair

Below are a few snaps from the Frock Me! Vintage fair at Brighton's Corn Exchange (click on the images to enlarge).

The scene's perfect for such an event in Brighton and people had begun queueing well before the doors opened at 11am.

Vintage-lovers stripped off behind flimsy screens all around the hall for a bit of garment-fuelled time-travel ans, as per this season's top trends, 1950s' sun dresses, 1970s' maxi dresses and antique wicker bags, detailed with flowers and beads, were the popular picks.

I was worried that the vintage on offer would be of the 'stick a vintage label on it and triple the price' variety but the beauty of these events is that the competition is so fierce that prices have to be competative. Sellers also know that many of the crowd are true vintage enthusiasts and will know how much things should cost.

So, as well as the £80+ beaded 1950s' evening dresses and rare Lucite bags, there were also a fair few £1, £5 and £10 baskets and rails, and the majority of the dresses were priced between £15-£40.

My Finds

As the fair was held the day after I returned from a week-long holiday, I couldn't go mad and so went on a bargain-hunt. I didn't do badly - spending just £23 and coming away with four pretty summer items.

Sundress by Miss Joni of California - £12
Warehouse floral dress - £5
Floral robe - £5
PJ bottoms - £1

Brighton's next Frock Me! Vintage Fair will be held 24 October 2010, with fairs held prior to this in Chelsea on 18 July and 19 September. For more information, visit www.frockmevintagefashion.com.
